Pelosi's Twisted Logic

On Sunday's "This Week" program on ABC, Nancy Pelosi made this absurd statement about the Democrats voting to pass the health care reform bill in the face of such broad opposition:
"We're not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress. We're here to do the job for the American people."

The absurdity of her statement is in the fact the people of America, in poll after poll, don't want ObamaCare as written and, therefore, the passage of such legislation would be totally contrary to Pelosi's comment that "We're here to do the job for the American people."

Furthermore, the members of Congress were only "sent" to represent the people of their respective states and districts. If they do lose their jobs over health care reform, it is because they didn't do their jobs. What Ms. Pelosi doesn't seem to understand is that "self-perpetuating our service in Congress" and doing the "job for the American people" are in complete harmony with each other -- not in discord with each other as she seems to imply in her statement, above.
