The Joke That Just Keeps On Going

Amid all the exposed unpaid taxes by Obama nominees, a Republican once quipped: "Democrats don't mind raising taxes because they don't pay them..." That little joke is starting to look more and more true as one Obama nominee after another gets caught with their pants around their ankles and their tax evasion clearly being exposed. Is this the "transparency" that Obama keeps repeating every time he's in front of the cameras and microphones?

First, it was the the new, proposed head of the Treasury and (chuckle) the IRS, Tim Geithner. Then, it was his new head of Health and Human Services and the former Democratic Majority Leader in the Senate, Tom Daschle. Now, it appears that Nancy Killefer, a person who was to be Obama's so-called performance czar and a person who tried to work to "improve" the IRS (See Full Story), has had to withdraw her nonimation (See Full Story) because of her unpaid taxes.

And, let's not forget that the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and the person who works to decide how Congress will pay for it's spending bills through tax law changes, Charlie Rangel. He is still being investigated for his years of unpaid taxes. While Rangel isn't directly part of the Obama team, he is another Democrat with a big tax problem.

Like all the good jokes, there is always a little truth in each one of them to get a good laugh. With this joke, the truth just keeps getting stronger. If this keeps up, we might be able to pay for the Democrat's $900 billion stimulus package by just collecting the unpaid taxes from Obama's nominees and other Democratic members of Congress.
